Mohair Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026 · Effective: 29 October 2026
The short version
- We collect only what Mohair needs to work: your sign-in details, the patterns you upload and your projects.
- Your patterns are private to you. Our AI reads a pattern only when you ask it to.
- We don't sell your data and there are no ads.
- Your data is stored in the EU (Germany and the Netherlands).
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
1. Who we are
Mohair is made by MB Random powers ("we", "us"), a company registered in Lithuania. We decide how your data is used, so under EU data protection law (GDPR) we are the data controller.

2. What we collect
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Account | Your email, your name and an account ID from Apple or Google when you sign in. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see the relay address. |
| Your content | PDF patterns you upload, images of their pages, the steps we create from them, and your projects: chosen size, notes and row progress. |
| Usage data (only if you allow it) | Which screens and features you use, app version, device model, operating system and approximate country. Never the content of your patterns or notes. |
| Purchases | Whether you have a subscription and the transaction ID from Apple. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details. |
| Support | Whatever you write to us by email. |
| Technical logs | Our servers record requests and errors (time, IP address, what failed) so we can keep Mohair running and secure. |
Some settings, like your preferred units, and offline copies of your projects are stored only on your phone. They are removed when you delete the app.
3. Why we use it
The law asks us to name a legal basis for each use. Here they are:
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Run your account, store your patterns, turn them into steps, save your progress | Needed to provide Mohair to you (contract) |
| Check that patterns were split into steps correctly, so we can fix mistakes and improve how Mohair reads patterns | Our legitimate interest in a working product. You can object (see section 9). |
| Understand how the app is used, to improve it | Your consent. Off unless you turn it on; you can turn it off any time in the app. |
| Keep Mohair secure and fix errors | Our legitimate interest |
| Handle subscriptions and restore purchases | Contract |
| Send product news by email | Your consent. We only send it if you sign up, and every email has an unsubscribe link. |
| Meet legal duties, such as tax rules or a lawful request from authorities | Legal obligation |
4. How AI reads your patterns
- Mohair uses AI to split a pattern into steps. This happens only after you tap to start it.
- To do this, we send the pattern's text and page images to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model. Anthropic processes them on our behalf under a data processing agreement and does not use them to train its models.
- We don't use your patterns to train AI models.
- To catch mistakes, the founder of MB Random powers may look at parsed patterns and compare them with the original. Patterns are never shared with other users or published.
5. Who we share data with
We use a few trusted companies to run Mohair. They only process your data on our instructions:
| Company | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage, sign-in | Frankfurt, Germany |
| Railway | Running our servers | Amsterdam, Netherlands |
| Anthropic | AI that reads your patterns | USA |
| PostHog | Usage statistics, only if you allow it | EU |
| Apple, Google | Sign-in; Apple also handles purchases | Their own privacy policies apply |
We may also share data if the law requires it. If MB Random powers is ever sold or merged, your data would move to the new owner under this policy, and we'd tell you first.
We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it for advertising.
6. Signing in with Apple or Google
We ask Apple or Google only for your email and name. We use them to sign you in and to show your name in the app, nothing else.
Mohair's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Where your data is stored
Your account and content are stored in the EU. When a pattern is read by AI, it is sent to Anthropic in the USA. Some of our providers are US companies even when their servers are in the EU. In each case the transfer is protected by the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses, and where the provider takes part in it, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
8. How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Account and content | Until you delete your account |
| After you delete your account | Deleted straight away; removed from backups within 30 days |
| Technical logs | 90 days |
| Usage statistics | Up to 12 months, or until you delete your account |
| Support emails | 2 years after the conversation ends |
| Purchases | Apple keeps payment records. We keep your subscription status only while your account exists. |
9. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you, or send you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop or limit a use of it, including the pattern check in section 4;
- withdraw a consent you gave.
Email hello@randompowers.com, or delete your account in the app. We reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm it's really you.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to Lithuania's State Data Protection Inspectorate (vdai.lrv.lt) or the data protection authority where you live.
10. Children
Mohair is not for children under 14. If we learn that a child under 14 has an account, we will delete it.
11. Security
Data is encrypted between your device and our servers. Your patterns and files are only served to you after you sign in, and only our team can access our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
